Swimming Progress

The boys finished the last class for this session on Thursday. They had a substitute instructor who did things a little different. The big thing was that she had them take their bubbles off and jump in the deeper part of the pool. Bryson was able to keep himself up with no help and Tanyon needed just a little help. The instructor was so impressed with Bryson that she bumped him up a class for the next session. Tanyon was on the borderline, but they also allowed him to move up so that I wouldn't have to come in for different lesson. Thank Goodness!! Bryson was not very impressed with the experience of going without a bubble. But Mommy explained this is why were taking lessons so we can swim without a jacket and then started hyping him up to call all the relatives because this was so special. He then started to buy into some.

A Week of Friends!

We've had so much kid action this week at our house! Mommy's friends were still here on Monday, which meant an extra 3 kids. Then on Tuesday our friends Christian, McKenna, Abby & Nate came to play. We had swimming lessons on Wednesday and Thursday. And then on Friday the McKee family came to play with us. There are 6 kids in their family! The boys loved having some older friends over who took them out "exploring" on our property. It was a lot of fun watching them roaming around through the fields! Needless to say with all the action and all the kids, Mommy wasn't able to get too many pictures. Thanks to everyone for coming to play with us.

Birthday Treat

Since I was away for my birthday, my husband arranged for our good friends from college to come and visit for the weekend. He thought of all the little details like getting a babysitter for Saturday night and setting up subs for us for church! It was supposed to be a surprise, but he had to tell me about it last week (which I glad, because it took a lot of planning for food and cleaning to get the house ready for company).

We had a GREAT weekend! 4 adults and 6 kids (all under the age of 5) with no major complaints is pretty impressive! They arrived Saturday around lunch time and the girls hung out while the boys worked at the house. Saturday night we went out to dinner and entrusted the kids to 2 babysitters. All seemed to go well except bedtime. We came home at 9:45 to find 4 of the kids still up. But the story gets better- My boys were jumping on the beds and had torn insulation from the window sill (that's not finished) and were throwing at each other. They had insultation everywhere! Needless to say Adam and I were not very happy with them. Sunday we got to attend the worship service with Heather & Keith (first time I had been there since December!). We had a picnic after church which was lots of fun! We went on a walk after dinner because the troops were restless and ended up petting a horse, feeding some calves and getting a gator ride home from our neighbors! We were then blessed that Keith & Heather decided to stay an extra day to help work on our old house. Since everyone was so tired we decided we needed something to entertain the kids today. So we were able to go swimming at my friend Jen's parents house. If Heather & I weren't tired before we were exhausted to get got everyone dressed, sprayed with sunscreen and loaded in the car, but it did end up being a good outing.

Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Playing a new game that the girls' gave us.

Swinging at the park while waiting for our burgers to cook.

The boys deep in conversation with Reagan.

4 out of 6 kids isn't bad for a group pictures. 6 is nearly impossible! I kept my camera in my pocket all day Saturday in hopes of catching the right moment, but no such luck.

We were so sad to see them leave tonight. Thank you Adam for coming up with the perfect birthday present for me! It was so good to see Heather and her family! I was reminded all weekend how blessed I was with the answer God gave me for my desperate prayers for a christian friend in college. Heather was far more than I could have ever asked for. I treasure all the memories that we've shared with Keith & Heather. We've sure shared some laughs over the years! Thanks again for planning such a special weekend for me!

Two Peas In A Pod

Tanyon and Addie have shared a special attraction since day 1. At first, it was Tanyon with Addie. He would love her to the point that I thought he was going to smother
her. At times he was a little rough with Addie and we've been saying just wait one day she's going to give it back to you. These days the attraction is Addie with Tanyon. Tanyon at times is not so sure what to think of it. Addie will try to take Tanyon's treasured doggie. If she can come up with it, you will hear her give out a mischievous giggle, which Tanyon doesn't appreciate. I have to chuckle to myself when I hear him say in frustration "Addddiiiiieee!". (The times are a turning) But ultimately, these to can be found playing side by side. Which really warms my heart, but I hope that he leads her in the right direction. Especially since these days seem to be monkey see, monkey do!

Say Cheese!

Addie has caught onto the smile idea with pictures. All I have to do is hold up the camera and say smile and she gives me the cheesiest smile. It's so funny! Then she will make her way to my lap so she can see the picture. She definitely is a ham!

Addie is just growing up so much before my eyes! Her newest interest if she spots the bathroom door open is wanting to wash her hands. It's quite comical because she'll just stand there with her arms up until I actually pick her up and wash her hands.

It is amazing the rate that little ones develop. She also seems to be developing quite a temper! I'm talking kickin' legs, floppin' to the floor and crying. I'm praying for wisdom, because the boys never displayed anything this extreme. She continues to be one of the bright spots in each of our lives (including the boys) though. I find myself often through out the day saying Thank you Jesus for Addie!

Nature in Our Backyard

Tonight Adam looked out the kitchen window and was shocked to see a Bobwhite Quail in our backyard. I quickly grabbed the camera to try and get a picture. Not quite the best picture, but a really neat bird to see. The bird actually let us get fairly close. The boys thought it was pretty cool, but they quickly scared it away.

For those of you who know my husband well, you'll understand why this picture makes me smile. Yes, if your wondering, he is trying to talk to the bird with his Bobwhite sounds.

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

Adam took the boys out for their first turkey hunt the other morning. The hunt was unsuccessful, largely because Tanyon was having great difficulty being quiet. Both boys came back extremely excited though! All Mommy could think was Addie get ready because when the boys are old enough were going shopping girl! :)

These are the camo covers the boys wore.

You can see the nice attitude that Bryson had as a result of getting up at 5:00 in the morning. Tanyon was in hyper drive all day. It seems like when he's tired, he just flys super high all day.

I'm sure that the boys will treasure these hunting memories with their Dad!

Horray for the Sun!

The boys were so excited to see the sun today. They beat me outside before getting their PJ's off. Tanyon is obsessed with the red rubber boots right now. He's holding a worm that he found.

The boys discovered some water by the side of our house and went several pairs of pants. I finally gave up and let them out in the underwear.

And then there's Addie. It's really hard to stay pretty in pink when you have 2 older brothers!

She was right there in the mud with the boys.

Sunshine sure does something for the soul!

Update on Swimming Lesson

The boys really enjoy lessons and are making some progress (I guess). I put a little video together of the 3 things they do every class. Jen you will need to evaluate and tell me if my boys are on track. :) As of now I'm not seeing any stellar future swimmers, which is a okay for me. They willing try everything that is asked of them, that's all a mom can ask for.

I added the music to cover up the noise that by brother was making in the background. :)

He Did What?!

If I'm using this blog to help journal memorable moments, I need to record the little problem that Tanyon has with his nose. Last fall, I caught Tanyon one afternoon with very watery eyes and his finger up his nose. I asked him what he was doing, and of course he responded nothing. I then asked him if he stuck something up his nose. Of course he denied that also, but his eyes continued to water. So then I pretty much pinned him to the floor to investigate if he had something up there. They were eating raisins for snack and I was pretty certain that I saw something at the back of his nostril, but it's a little hard to tell since raisins are black and the raisin was completely at the back of his nostril by the opening to his skull! I then had to make one of the most embarrassing phone calls to the Dr. to admit that my son had stuck something up his nose. Well, they didn't have any openings so we then had to call the Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor. They also didn't have any openings until the following afternoon and told us it wasn't a big deal. He would become congested but that was it. Well, Daddy was not going to tolerate a raisin stuck in his son's nose for over 24 hours so he got determined to come up with a way to get it out. One idea suggested was a barbed fishing hook, which Mommy immediately refused. Then Daddy got creative. He got out our air pump used to blow up our air mattress. It had some adaptor nostrels, which actually fit up Tanyon's nose. So on about the third try Adam was able to suck the raisin out.

The ironic part to the story is the shirt that Tanyon is wearing in the picture. My mom had purchased this shirt because it seemed to her like something that Tanyon would do. She actually gave me this shirt the morning of the nose incident before anything had happened.

The sad part to the story is that Tanyon didn't learn his lesson from this ordeal. This winter, I caught him picking again at his nose. I wiped his nose thinking it was some snot, but ended up pulling out a rather large piece of foam insulation that we had put in the ceilings of the bedrooms. This piece was much larger than a raisin and was in his nose for 24 hours. Good thing is that it worked it's way out because Adam and I had no idea he had put anything in his nose. Of course with Tanyon the story is never simple. We then had a third incident which involved 2 pieces of the insulation at on time in his nose, fortunately we caught the second pieces being put in his nose. When it comes to meaningful punishments how do you punish this one?! This last time Adam used some scare tactics that probably weren't the best idea, but we at least haven't had anymore problems since then. I guess this shirt is very fitting for Tanyon.

Driving a car?!

Addie is trying to figure out how to operate the push cars. Most of the time she just likes to pull it along with her, but she is starting to make some progress.

Dessert with Friends

I'm a little behind this week, because we've had some cold issues. Addie made a trip to the Doctors on Monday, because she had a fever, running nose, not sleeping and EXTREMELY fussy, but she checked out okay. Bryson went yesterday and had an ear infection. We doubled checked Addie's ears (because she cont. to be fussy) but they looked clear. We are surviving but it's been a bumping road this week.

Sunday night our friends Megan and Gavin came over for dessert. We had a lot of fun playing with them. It was also nice to get to know their Mom better. The highlights of the night were going for a wagon ride and popsciles. I'm not sure who was more excited about the wagon ride- Daddy or the kids! :)

Things I Missed While Away . . .

I missed watching the kids play. I often overlook each day how much the boys love their sister!

Tanyon and Addie played in this box together for a good 15 -20 minutes the other morning!

Bryson was embarassed when I caught him reading to Addie because he said he didn't know the words.

What I missed most was . . . THEIR SMILING FACES!

These are by far the cutest towels that my Aunt bought the kids!

(Bryson's is a frog, can't quite see the head to it)

Side Note-Does anyone have some suggestions on how to let girls hair grow out? Barrettes don't stay in and Bryson said we should call Addie a moose when she had these pig tails in.

What I didn't miss. . .
The unexpected mess when you let Addie out of your sight

AND . . .

The fighting over toys!
I am still battling to get back on top of things after a week away. I think the laundry is finally caught up :) Time still has to be carefully planned if I want to get anything down, but I'm trying to continually remind myself of all treasures of this stage in life!
